Car Service to Powell Hall and the St. Louis Symphony

Black Car Service drops you at Powell Hall's north entrance at Grand and Delmar Boulevards, the designated drop-off and pick-up area named by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and can wait or return after the concert. A one-way ride from Clayton, about 8 miles, is about $85 in a Cadillac XT6 or Lyriq and about $111 in a Cadillac Escalade ESV, compared with $20 for prepaid SLSO parking plus the walk and the exit line.

Powell Hall after the renovation

Powell Hall sits at 718 North Grand Boulevard in the Grand Center Arts District. According to slso.org, the expanded Jack C. Taylor Music Center opened in September 2025, marking the start of the SLSO's 146th season and the centennial of the building. The hall has 2,150 new seats with more legroom, a multi-story lobby, a full bar and light snacks at every performance, and a coat check.

One-way rides or hourly?

For a simple concert night, two one-way rides usually cost less than booking hourly. A short trip is priced by distance: under 10 miles, it is $50 plus $7.50 a mile, capped at $85 in the XT6 or Lyriq and $125 in the Escalade ESV or Suburban Premier. From Clayton, that is about $85 each way in the XT6, or about $170 for the evening. Booking the XT6 hourly costs at least $300 for the 3-hour minimum.

Hourly makes sense when the night has more than one stop, such as dinner in the Central West End before the concert and drinks after, or when you want the car parked and waiting the moment you walk out. Hourly rates are $100 in the XT6, $105 in the Lyriq, $125 in the Suburban Premier and $150 in the Escalade ESV.

Tips for the night

  • ●Set your return pickup for about 15 minutes after the scheduled end, and text the chauffeur if the encore runs long.
  • ●Use the coat check in colder months so you are not juggling coats at the curb.
  • ●The Fabulous Fox is a short walk away, so on nights when both venues are busy, allow extra time for Grand Boulevard traffic.
