Holiday Lights Tour in St. Louis With a Chauffeur: Where to Go and What It Costs
The easiest way to do a holiday lights tour in St. Louis is to book a chauffeur by the hour and let one vehicle carry the group from stop to stop. At Black Car Service, a Cadillac Escalade ESV for up to 6 is $150 an hour with a 3-hour minimum, so $450 for a typical evening, and a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter for up to 14 is $225 an hour with a 4-hour minimum, or $900. The Saint Louis Zoo has already set Wild Lights for select nights from November 27 to December 30, 2026.
The big light displays and their 2026 status
| Display | Where | 2026 details as of October 10 |
|---|---|---|
| Wild Lights | Saint Louis Zoo, 1 Government Drive in Forest Park | Select nights, November 27 to December 30, 5 to 8:30 p.m., last entry 8 p.m. |
| Way of Lights | National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, 442 S. DeMazenod Drive, Belleville | 57th year; opening date not yet posted |
| Garden Glow | Missouri Botanical Garden | 2026 dates not yet posted |
Wild Lights details come from stlzoo.org, which lists general admission at $19, $16 for zoo members, and free for children under 2, with a sensory-friendly night on December 7. The shrine's website calls this the 57th annual Way of Lights and notes that its indoor areas close on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day while the outdoor light display stays open. Check each site for the final dates before you book.
How many hours to book
A lights tour is mostly waiting while you walk through a display, plus short drives between stops. Booking by the hour means the chauffeur and the vehicle stay with you, and nobody has to find parking at each stop.
- ●3 hours: one display plus dinner, such as Wild Lights followed by a meal in the Central West End.
- ●4 hours: two displays on the same side of the river, or one display plus a slow drive past decorated neighborhoods.
- ●5 hours or more: a Missouri display and Way of Lights in Belleville on the same night, with dinner.
Forest Park is close to the middle of things. By OpenStreetMap routing, the zoo is about 3 miles from Clayton and about 4 miles from the Missouri Botanical Garden, roughly 8 minutes each way, so a two-stop night on the Missouri side wastes very little time on the road.
