STL Terminal 1 vs Terminal 2: Which One Is Your Ride Meeting You At?

At St. Louis Lambert International Airport, Southwest Airlines operates from Terminal 2 and essentially every other airline operates from Terminal 1. That one sentence resolves the majority of wrong-terminal pickups we see. The two terminals sit about half a mile apart, they are not connected inside security, and walking between them is not practical with luggage. If your chauffeur is at the wrong curb, you are looking at a shuttle ride you did not plan for.

Which Airlines Use Terminal 1 at STL?

Terminal 1 is the original Lambert terminal and it holds Concourse A and Concourse C. Despite being called the smaller terminal in older guides, it now serves the widest list of carriers.

Which Airlines Use Terminal 2 at STL?

Terminal 2 is a single concourse, Concourse E, and it is dominated by Southwest Airlines. Long haul international service also lands here, and international arrivals are processed at Terminal 2 regardless of which terminal that airline normally departs from.

The trap worth remembering: if you fly Frontier out of St. Louis you leave from Terminal 1, but if you are coming back on an international arrival you land at Terminal 2. Departure terminal and arrival terminal are not always the same building.

How Do I Tell My Chauffeur Which Terminal to Use?

When you book with Black Car Service STL, give us your airline and your flight number rather than a terminal number. Flight numbers are unambiguous and they let us track the aircraft. Terminal assignments change when an airline moves gates, and a flight number stays correct even when the terminal does not.

  • Enter the flight number at booking so the arrival can be tracked live
  • Tell us if you are checking bags, because baggage claim adds time before you reach the curb
  • Note any international arrival, since customs at Terminal 2 adds a variable wait
  • Add a mobile number your chauffeur can text when they are in position

Where Does the Car Actually Meet You?

Both terminals have a commercial ground transportation area on the arrivals level. For a standard pickup your chauffeur waits in that zone and texts you the exact spot once your flight is on the ground. If you would rather be met inside, request a meet and greet at booking and your chauffeur will be waiting in baggage claim with a name sign and will handle your bags to the vehicle.

For departures the terminal question is simpler, because you are dropped at the departures level of whichever terminal your airline uses. The rule above still applies. Southwest passengers go to Terminal 2, everyone else goes to Terminal 1.

What Happens If My Flight Is Delayed or Diverted?

Your pickup time adjusts automatically. We monitor live flight data, so a delay moves your chauffeur's arrival with it at no extra charge. You do not need to call and rebook. If your flight is cancelled and you rebook onto a different carrier, send us the new flight number, because that can also change your terminal.

Are Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 at STL connected?

No. The two terminals are separate buildings roughly half a mile apart and they are not connected inside security. A free shuttle runs between them, but with luggage and a schedule it is far easier to be picked up at the correct terminal in the first place.

Which terminal is Southwest at St. Louis Lambert?

Southwest Airlines operates from Terminal 2, Concourse E. It is the only major domestic carrier at Terminal 2, which is why so many travelers assume the busier terminal must be Terminal 1 and end up at the wrong curb.

Do I need to know my terminal when I book a car service?

No. Give us your airline and flight number instead. Black Car Service STL determines the terminal from the flight and tracks the arrival live, so a gate or terminal change on the airline's end does not affect your pickup.

Where do international flights arrive at STL?

All international arrivals, including pre-cleared flights, are processed at Terminal 2. Plan for extra time between landing and reaching the curb, since customs and baggage claim both happen before you exit.

Is there a charge if my flight lands late?

No. Black Car Service STL tracks your flight and shifts the pickup to match the actual landing time at no additional cost. The fee that does apply on some trips is the after hours fee for pickups between midnight and 6:00 AM, and that is shown to you before you pay.
